I recently made the trip over to Stratford to see the area before its redevelopment is finished in time for the 2012 Olympics.
It's fair to say that the whole area is still very much a building site. They are literally building a brand new city over there! A new mega shopping complex, acres of new office space as well as the Olympic village itself which will eventually be turned into blocks of flats.
My interest in the area is the people and the contrast between the local fortunes and aspirations and a nations pride and excitement over the cordoned off Olympic site.
It will be interesting to see in the years to come how much integration occurs and how much of the millions of pounds invested in this London showcase have dripped down to the surrounding area. How much it changes Stratford for the better. In particular the social change in the area.
Thats why I plan to revisit the new Olympic site and the surrounding area before during and after the event.
